TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Nov. 17, 2019 at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two motor vehicle fail to remain collision on St. George Street in Fergus. While officers were enroute, they received a second call regarding another motor vehicle collision involving the same vehicle on East Mill Street in Elora and witnesses believed that the driver was impaired.

When officers arrived at the scene, they observed the driver behind the wheel of the vehicle and attempting to start it. Officers confirmed that it was the same vehicle involved in both collisions and while speaking with the driver formed the opinion that they were impaired by alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Michael Magna, 35-years-old of Kitchener has been charged with impaired operation, impaired operation - 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood), dangerous driving and fail to stop at motor vehicle collision (two counts) contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused will appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Dec. 20, 2019 to speak to the charges.
