Seven people charged with drug-related offences

COUNTY OF WELLINGTON — The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was busy on area highways this weekend charging seven people with drug related offences.

On Friday, July 7, 2017 at approximately 8 p.m. Wellington OPP arrested a male at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check on First Line Elora. While speaking with the male, officers formed grounds that he was in possession of a controlled drug.

Subsequent search revealed he was in possession of marijuana. A 17-year-old male from Fergus is charged with Possession of Marijuana contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). He is to appear in Guelph Court on Aug. 8, 2017.

On Friday, July 7, 2017 at approximately 10:30 p.m. Wellington OPP arrested a male at a traffic stop on Gore Road, Puslinch. 50-year-old Aidan Dwyer of Cambridge is charged with Possession of Cannabis Resin contrary to the CDSA. He is to appear in Guelph Court on Aug. 29, 2017.

On Saturday, July 8, 2017 at approximately 2:30 a.m. Wellington OPP arrested a male at a RIDE check on Highway 6, north of Guelph. While speaking with the occupants in the vehicle, officers formed grounds that a passenger was in possession of a controlled drug.

Subsequent search revealed he was in possession of marijuana and Percocet. 21-year-old Brett Steven Doney of Mount Forest is charged with Possession of Marijuana and Percocet contrary to the CDSA. He is to appear in Guelph Court on Aug. 8, 2017.

On Saturday, July 8, 2017 at approximately 4 a.m. Wellington OPP arrested a male cyclist at a traffic stop on Gordon Street, Guelph.

19-year-old Reagan Mauise of Guelph is charged with Possession of Marijuana contrary to the CDSA as well as failing to comply with a probation order and failing to comply with sentencing order contrary to the Criminal Code. He is to appear in Guelph Court on Aug. 29, 2017.

On Sunday, July 9, 2017 at approximately 8:30 p.m. Wellington OPP arrested three people at a traffic stop on Wellington Road 21, near Elora.

32-year-old Shannon Payette of Guelph, 40-year-old Bryan Devereaux of Kitchener and 41-year-old David Stadelbauer of Cambridge are all charged with Possession of Marijuana contrary to the CDSA.

Payette has also been charged with failing to comply with a recognizance order contrary to the Criminal Code. They are to appear in Guelph Court on Aug. 8, 2017.

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.
