TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On March 9, 2018 at approximately 1:30 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a male who had (allegedly) just shoplifted at the Hasty Market on Tower Street, in the Town of Fergus.

Officers attended and located the suspect in the driver's seat of a stolen BMW. He was arrested for possession of stolen property. A search incident to arrest located methamphetamine and a backpack containing break-in instruments.

Forty-four-year-old Christopher Wilhelm of Hanover has been charged with the following:

  • Theft under $5,000 (shoplifting)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime - over $5,000
  • Possession of methamphetamine
  • Possession of break in instruments.

He was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on April 13, 2018 to answer to the charges.
