Guelph Police Service responded to 284 incidents

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Wanted prty arrested after caught shoplifting
In the early afternoon of the 19th of May, 2019, a female suspect entered into a business located on Woodlawn Road.  She was later observed by loss prevention officers to be (allegedly) shoplifting from the store. Police were contacted and a 34-year-old woman from Georgetown was arrested for theft under $5,000. Through investigation, it was discovered that this female was also wanted by the Guelph Police Service for failing to appear for her court date. She was taken into custody and later released on a Promise to Appear with a new court date of July 5, 2019.

Speed enforcement
On Sunday the 19th, officers conducted routine speed enforcement at several different locations within the city. As a result, 24 provincial offence notices were issued to various drivers for speeding. The Guelph Police Service would like to remind the public that unless otherwise posted, the speed limit in residential areas is 50 km/h.
