Staff alert police, accused faces drug charges

On the afternoon of June 6, staff at a Norfolk Street establishment alerted police after they observed an (alleged) drug transaction between two males in the stairwell of the building. Police arrived, located one of the males and investigation led to his arrest for possession of a controlled substance. A search also discovered drug paraphernalia, a pair of brass knuckles and a quantity of drugs including methamphetamine and marijuana.

The 41-year-old Guelph man was charged with seven different offences including drug trafficking, weapon possession and breach of court orders.

He was held in custody and will appear in bail court today.
