Staff of a west end business were surprised Tuesday when they arrived at work and reportedly found a burglar inside the store.

Approximately 6:40 p.m., Guelph police were called for a burglar alarm at a business on Silvercreek Parkway North near Speedvale Avenue West. Officers arrived a couple of minutes later and saw staff members standing out front. The employees reported a male had left the store a few minutes earlier and was last seen walking toward Greengate Road.

Surveillance video revealed the male had gained entry through a rear door and walked through the store, selecting some merchandise but ultimately leaving empty-handed.

The suspect was described as a white male wearing a black and white camouflage jacket, black pants, black and white shoes and a face covering.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Const. Konrad Babol at 519-824-1212, ext. 7189, email him at [email protected], leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
