Stolen Mini Cooper rolls after crashing into parked car

Police are investigating after two vehicles stolen from west end

On the morning of July 12, 2019, the owner of a purple Mini Cooper parked their vehicle in a commercial parking lot on the west end of the city and quickly attended inside a business, leaving it unlocked with the keys inside the vehicle. A male suspect entered the vehicle and drove it away. The vehicle was located a short time later after the suspect crashed into a parked car, rolling the vehicle, near the downtown area of city. The suspect took off on foot and has not been located by police.

On the morning of July 13, 2019, the owner of a gold Ford Escape parked their vehicle out front of a gas station on the west end of the city and quickly attended inside, leaving it unlocked with the keys inside the vehicle. The store clerk observed a male suspect enter the vehicle and the owner ran out attempting to stop the theft. The owner reached into the vehicle in an attempt to turn it off as it was pulling away, however they were unsuccessful and were thrown to the ground as the vehicle was driven away. The owner sustained minor injuries during the incident.

The vehicle was located later that evening in Waterloo Region after it had been involved in a hit and run. The male suspect fled on foot and was not located by police.
