Stolen purse leads to fraud charges

There were numerous charges around the downtown core on two banking cards that were in the stolen purse

On the afternoon Nov. 18, a Guelph resident had her purse stolen from a downtown church while she was at an event for the day. Later that same day there were numerous charges around the downtown core on two banking cards that were in the purse.

A 20-year-old Guelph male was apprehended on Nov. 19 for domestic-related charges and was in custody when investigation revealed that he was the person responsible for this incident as well.

He was further charged on Nov. 20 with seven counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, two counts of possession of stolen credit card and breach of probation. He continues to be held in custody and is scheduled to appear in bail court.
