A traffic stop for speeding led to an impaired driving charge Monday.
Approximately 6:20 p.m., Guelph police were conducting speed enforcement in the area of Victoria Road North and Brant Avenue when they clocked a pickup travelling 80 km/h in the posted 50 km/h zone.
The truck was stopped and an odour of alcoholic beverage was detected on the driver’s breath. After registering a fail on a roadside breath test, the man was transported to the police station where further testing confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.
A 30-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving and speeding.
