Stun gun-wielding suspect faces weapons charges: Police

Police say the accused flashed the weapon to a restaurant employee on two separate occasions in November

On Nov. 6, 2019 at 5:45 p.m., an adult male attended to a restaurant located near the intersection of Wellington Street East and Gordon Street in the City of Guelph and showed an employee a conductive energy weapon (CEW), sparking it in front of them. The male then left the restaurant.

At 6:15 p.m., the male returned, again showed the employee the CEW and again sparked it. The male left the restaurant and police were called.

On Dec. 15, 2019 at 9:12 a.m., the male was located outside a residence near the intersection of Wellington Street East and Wyndham Street South in the City of Guelph and was arrested.

A 28-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
    •    Possession of a weapon dangerous purpose
    •    Unauthorized possession of prohibited weapon
    •    Breach probation x2

He will appear in court on Feb. 11, 2020.
