Suspect arrested after jogger spit on, punched: Guelph Police

On Aug. 5, 2020, Police attended to an address on Speedvale Avenue East in report of an assault. The victim, a 38-year-old Guelph male, was out for a jog when [it is alleged that] the accused, a 42-year-old Guelph male, yelled at the victim, “Come back here” as he ran by. The victim turned around and was approached by the accused who proceeded to punch the victim and spit on the victim across his face and shirt. The accused left the area in a vehicle.

Police later located the vehicle and subsequently arrested the accused for two counts of assault. The accused was released on an Undertaking and is expected to appear in court on Nov. 20, 2020 at 9 a.m.
