Suspect fled on foot following collision

On Feb. 6, 2018 at approximately 6:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a fail to remain motor vehicle collision on Irvine Street, north of Sideroad 15, Township of Centre Wellington.

Officers attended and spoke with complainant who advised that the suspect's vehicle had hit his vehicle and another parked vehicle at the location. The suspect then fled on foot into the forest area.

Officers were able to follow the suspects footprints into the forest where the male suspect was located hiding under some brush. 

Twenty-three-year-old Eric Gordon Patterson of Guelph was charged with:

  • Theft of motor vehicle x2
  • Theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Fail to stop at scene of accident
  • Possession of meth
  • Fail to comply with probation order

He is schedule to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on March 16, 2018 to answer to the charges.
