Suspect flees police, later caught and charged

Friday at 1:44 a.m., Guelph police were dispatched to an area located near the intersection of Stevenson Street North and Speedvale Avenue East in regard to an adult male allegedly walking around checking the doors of motor vehicles.

Police located the male and further investigation revealed that he failed to attend court on August 6th in regards to the charge of theft under $5,000.

When the male was informed of the arrest warrant, he fled on foot through the backyards of nearby residences.

At 2:19 a.m., police located the male in the area and he was subsequently arrested.

A search incident to arrest revealed a financial card not in the male’s name.

A 29 year old Guelph male has been additionally charged with:
- Fail to attend
- Trespass by night
- Possession of stolen property

He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 7.
