Suspect takes Guelph Police on 'scenic side street tour'

In addition to other charges, the accused was also issued four tickets for not practising safe riding habits

On Sept. 19, 2018 at approximately 4:42 p.m., the Guelph Police Bicycle Unit was on patrol in the area of Norfolk Street and Cork Street where they observed a male that was currently wanted. Guelph Police approached the male and attempted to arrest him, where he jumped on a bicycle and fled the area.

After a scenic tour of the side streets of Guelph, the male was arrested in the area of Edinburgh Road and Bristol Street without incident. Matthew Delaney, a 29-year-old Guelph male was charged with fail to re-attend court as well as the warrant was executed for theft under $5,000. Delaney was also issued four tickets for not practising safe riding habits. 

Delaney is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 30, 2018.
