A Guelph female who was wanted for causing damage to a downtown parkade was arrested Monday when she arrived at Guelph Police Headquarters in a taxi she was unable to pay for.

Guelph police said the female took a taxi to the station to collect some belongings she believed the police had, then told the cabbie she didn’t have any money and couldn’t pay the $22 fare. She was arrested for transportation fraud and breach of probation.

On Sunday, about 8:20 a.m., the same female was caught on video damaging two elevator rooms inside the Wilson Street Parkade by kicking holes in the drywall then pulling out the insulation and throwing it around. A damage estimate was not available but city staff did not expect it to exceed $5,000.

The female was arrested for that incident and charged with mischief under $5,000 and breach of probation.

She was held for a bail hearing Tuesday.
