TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at approximately 5:15 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue (CWFD) responded to the banks of the Grand River at Bissell Park, Elora.

Initial reports indicated that two teenagers were swimming upstream from a low head dam when the water flow pulled them over the dam. They fell approximately 15 feet onto the concrete base.

Emergency services assisted the teens and they were transported to local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Wellington County OPP reminds swimmer and hikers to stay in the designated areas and to obey signs and notices.
