At 2:30 a.m. on July 6, 2019 a 6-year-old female child was found alone and wandering in an east end neighbourhood.

Concerned citizens contacted police to check on the child’s well being.

It was discovered that the child woke up and left the residence on her own accord. She told officers that she had just moved to the area and was unsure how to arrive back home.

Officers took custody of child and began a thorough search of surrounding neighbourhoods and school yards in hopes of locating her family. Police conducted door knocks at numerous residences, and drove through the area with the child, hoping to jog her memory.

At approximately 6 a.m., police were successful in locating the child’s family. The young girl’s father and grandmother attended to the station where the family was happily reunited.

Police have no concern of any wrong doing, and were happy to see the young girl being taken home by her relieved father.
