Three accused of driving 50 km/h over the speed limit

Two incidents occurred on the Hanlon Expressway in Guelph

On July 1, 2019, at approximately 8:45 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Expressway in the City of Guelph. The officer observed an orange sport utility vehicle travelling above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h.

Daniel Aaron Margolese, 26-years-old of Kitchener has been charged with racing a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Sept. 5, 2019. The accused's driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH - On July 1, 2019, at approximately 2:00 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 109 near the East-West Luther Townline. The officer observed a black sedan travelling above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h.

Kikhil Sharma, 29-years-old of Mississauga has been charged with racing a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Sept. 18, 2019. The accused's driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

On July 2, 2019, at approximately 8:45 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Expressway in the City of Guelph. The officer observed a blue sedan travelling above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 135 km/h.

Mayowa Albert Balogun, 25-years-old of Windsor has been charged with racing a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on September 18, 2019. The accused's driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
