Three drivers clocked doing more than 50 km/h over posted speed limit

All three had their driver's licence and vehicle seized

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Sunday May 27, 201 at approximately 10 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6, south of Fergus. The officer observed a male driving an older model sedan at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h, exceeding the posted speed limit by at least 50 km/h.

Nineteen-year-old Brandan Austin Haynes of Fergus has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on July 18, 2018. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Friday May 25, 2018 at approximately 12:30 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic in a construction zone on Wellington Road 7, Centre Wellington. The officer observed a male driving a newer model sedan at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 50 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 100 km/h, exceeding the posted speed limit by at least 50 km/h.

Twenty-nine-year-old John Abraham of Guelph has been charged with race a motor vehicle and speeding in a construction zone contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on July 18, 2018. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute

TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH - On Sunday June 3, 2018 at approximately 7:30 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6, south of Guelph. The officer observed a male driving an older model sedan at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 60 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 110 km/h, exceeding the posted speed limit by at least 50 km/h.

Thirty-eight-year-old Samuel Bekele Mamo of Kitchener has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on July 18, 2018. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
