Three motorists clocked driving more than 55 km over the speed limit

All had their vehicles and licences seized for seven days

On Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at approximately 12 a.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Laird Road in the City of Guelph. The officer observed a male driving a 2009 Acura TL travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 141 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

Thirty-four-year-old Trong Minh Phuong of Guelph has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Dec. 20, 2017. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

On Monday, Nov. 6, 2017 at approximately 1:30 a.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Laird Road in the City of Guelph. The officer observed a male driving a 2008 Honda Civic travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 141 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

Twenty-three-year-old Akshay Nair of Ajax has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Dec. 20, 2017. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

On Monday Nov. 6, 2017 at approximately 8:30 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Second Line near Wellington Road 7 south of Elora. The officer observed a female driving a 2017 Ford F150 pickup truck travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 118 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

Twenty-one-year-old Ryleigh Megan Peyton of North Perth has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Dec. 20, 2017. Her driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
