Three stopped for speeding on Highway 6 near Laird Road

Three drivers face serious charges, lose vehicles and driver's licenses for seven days after being clocked on radar at speeds in excess of 130 km/h

On May 30, 2017 at approximately 10:30 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Laird Road in the City of Guelph. 

The officer observed a male driving a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 133 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

27-year-old (charge reduced to speeding) of Etobicoke has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on June 21, 2017. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

The officer observed a male driving a 2014 Mazda 3 travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 135 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

23-year-old Justin Garth Hack of Burlington has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on June 21, 2017. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

On May 31, 2017 at approximately 12:30 a.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Laird Road in the City of Guelph. 

The officer observed a male driving a 2017 Dodge Ram pickup travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 134 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

27-year-old Justin Tony Holmes of Guelph has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on June 21, 2017. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
