TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019 Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft from a vehicle in a parking lot on St David Street North in Fergus, Ontario.

It was reported that on Feb. 20, 2019, three unknown suspects distracted an 82-year-old woman, stole her wallet and withdrew a large amount of money from her accounts.

The theft started when the three suspects sneakily watched while she entered her secret 'pin' number during a credit purchase. The ploy continued into the parking lot where the three distracted her by implying that she had a flat tire and when she returned to her car from returning her cart her wallet was gone.

The next day she was contacted by her financial institution who advised her that someone withdrew approximately $15,000 from her accounts.
