break and enter, calls for service, e-messaging now available

The following are news releaaes issued by the Guelph Police Service:

On Jan. 3, 2018, Guelph police went to a Forbes Avenue residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered sometime over the holidays and stole several items.

On Jan. 3, 2018, Guelph police went to a Westwood Road apartment building to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) broke into a secured garage aentered a vehicle. Several items, including a GPS, were stolen.

Calls for Service

In the last 24 hours, the Guelph Police Service dealt with 172 calls for service.

E – Messaging

The Guelph Police Service now has E-Messaging for anyone interested. Do you want a notification when there’s a neighbourhood alert? Would you like to be notified of a major incident directly from police? E-Messaging can make that happen.

The E- Messaging System will send information to a selected geographic area made possible through a community member sign-up webpage. Messages will be prepared and delivered by the Guelph Police Service through email and text messaging. Message types and user delivery profiles can be customized to meet the needs and preferences for each registered community member.

Types of messages

The registration page enables community members to create a user profile, which will specify the message types that the community member wishes to receive. Messages like:

•             Information alerts

•             Existing Amber alerts

•             Missing persons

•             Emergency incidents

•             Neighbourhood crime alerts

•             Threats to school safety

•             Public warnings

Registration

Residents and business owners within the city of Guelph who wish to enroll in the E- Messaging System will be required to create a user profile by completing all required fields on the registration form. Your user profile will identify the geographic area where the messages are to be delivered. You also have the option to edit your online user profile or unsubscribe at any time.

The E-messaging system is up and running, so try it, if you do not like it, it is easy to unsubscribe.
