Break and enter
A Wellington Road business reported to police that their gated compound had been broken into sometime overnight on Jan. 4. A quantity of electrical wires and batteries were taken by the unknown suspect(s).

Collisions
Over the course of the day Guelph Police responded to 10 motor vehicle collisions in the city where minor injuries occurred in two. These minor injuries did not require anyone to be transported to the hospital. Charges were laid against drivers in seven of the collisions.
On Jan. 4, 2016 the Guelph Police Service and its members were involved in 183 incidents.
