On Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at around 10:30 p.m. a female was walking alone through Summit Ridge Park when a male attacked her from behind knocking her to the ground. After a short struggle, the male fled the area.

On Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at around 10:30 p.m. a female was walking alone through Summit Ridge Park when a male attacked her from behind knocking her to the ground. After a short struggle, the male fled the area.

This male is described as caucasian, heavy set, clean shaven, approximately 6’4 and was wearing a white t-shirt, red basketball shorts and a black ball cap with a red brim.

The victim was treated for minor injuries.

Suspicious Male Arrested at City Hall Splash Pad

On Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at approximately 4 p.m., staff at City Hall alerted Guelph Police to a male acting suspiciously. Specifically, police were advised a male appeared to be taking pictures at the splash pad.  Police located and spoke to a male. 

As a result of the investigation, Derrick Miller, 32 years old of Guelph, was arrested and charged with Voyeurism, Possessing Child Pornography and Mischief. 

He will appear in court on September 9, 2016.

Dangerous Driving Arrest- Motor Assisted Bicycle

On Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at approximately 10:42 p.m. a member of the Guelph Police Traffic Division observed of a motor assisted bicycle that was travelling southbound on Gordon Street from Kortright Road at what appeared to be an unsafe rate of speed (for a motor-assisted bicycle).

The power-assisted bicycle was a mountain bicycle modified with a gas engine kit and meets the Criminal Code definition of a motor vehicle.

The officer caught up to the motor-assisted bicycle south of Arkell Road and attempted to stop it but the driver continued through a red light at the intersection of Gordon Street and Lowes Road.

The officer activated lights and sirens to stop the driver but he accelerated and left the roadway travelling along the sidewalk on the south side of Lowes Road and turned down an unpaved pedestrian walkway in a residential area. After a short distance, the driver abandoned his bicycle and fled on foot into the greenbelt area.

The driver was apprehended a short time later with the assistance of the Guelph Police K9 unit.

The 32-year-old male driver of the motor-assisted bicycle was charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Breach Probation.  He was also found to be in possession of stolen property and was further charged with Possession of Stolen Property.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
