Male attacked with an axe On March, 16, 2016, at 10 p.m., an altercation ensued at a south end residence between two parties known to each other.

On March, 16, 2016, at 10 p.m., an altercation ensued at a south end residence between two parties known to each other. As a result of this altercation, the accused a 42-year-old Guelph male struck the victim, a 29-year-old Guelph male with an axe causing serious but, non- life threatening injuries. The victim was transport to the GGH for treatment. The accused is charged aggravated assault, assault with weapon and weapons dangerous.  He was held for a bail hearing.

House Fire

GUELPH, ON, March 16, 2016 – On March 16, 2016 at approximately 4 p.m. the Guelph Fire Department responded to a reported fire on Chestnut Place. Units from Headquarters Stations 2, 4 and 5 arrived at the scene and found smoke coming from the garage area of the detached home. Crews evacuated the buildings occupants and pets.

The fire was quickly brought under control and subsequently extinguished. There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire along with an estimate of damage is still under investigation. Fire Prevention was contacted and on scene. More information will be released at a later time.
