Hit and run update

The CRV that was reported being involved in the hit and run collision is now confirmed as being stolen. The vehicle was recovered by police on Conroy Cres, Guelph on Mar. 1, 2017.

March 1 release: Guelph Police were called to a hit and run motor vehicle collision on Feb. 28, 2017 at 9:25 p.m., the collision occurred on College Avenue East, at East Ring Road, Guelph. A vehicle that was travelling on College Ave, was making a lane change when a Black Honda CRV tried to overtake the turning vehicle, by passing the vehicle on its left side.

Any member of the public that may have further details in relation to the stolen vehicle or the hit and run accident can either contact Crime Stoppers or Cst. Kecskemeti at 519-824-1212 ext.7433.

Flashing school bus lights mean STOP

The Guelph Police Traffic Services Branch have been receiving ongoing complaints from local bus drivers and concerned citizens regarding vehicles not stopping for school buses.

The Ontario Highway Traffic Act section 175(11) states: "Every driver or street car operator, when meeting on a highway, other than a highway with a median strip, a stopped school bus that has its overhead red signal-lights flashing, shall stop before reaching the bus and shall not proceed until the bus moves or the overhead red signal-lights have stopped flashing."

The Guelph Police is reminding motorists that the safety of the children and citizens in our community is our priority and that the driver or the registered owner of the vehicle can be charged under the above section of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. The penalty is a $490 fine and 6 demerit points.

Police seeking assistance in serious motor collision

On Wednesday, Mar. 1, 2017 at 2 p.m., there was a serious Motor Vehicle Collision within the intersection of Kortright Road West and Scottsdale Drive. 

Guelph Police are seeking the assistance of the public in their investigation.

Police calls for service last 24 hours

The Guelph Police have received and attended to 154 calls for service in a 24 hour period from Mar. 1, 2017 – Mar. 2, 2017.
