On May 4, 2016 at 12:51 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a collision on Victoria Road North. It is alleged that a blue four door Hyundia Elantra travelling north on Victoria struck a white Chevrolet pickup truck that was exiting a private driveway. Neither driver suffered an injury as a result of the collision. Damage to the two vehicles is estimated at $4,000.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 52-year-old Elora male, was subsequently charged with fail to yield from a private driveway contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Two vehicle collision

On May 4, 2016 at 2:52 p.m. the Guelph Police went to a collision on Woodlawn Road West. It is alleged that a silver four door Acura travelling west on Woodlawn struck a black Mercedes that was stopped in a line of traffic at a red light on Woodlawn. The driver and passenger in the Mercedes were injured in the collision. The passenger was transported to Guelph General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Damage to the two vehicles is estimated at $3,000.

The driver of the Acura, a 21-year-old Linwood male, was subsequently charged with careless driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Theft from cars

On May 4, 2016 the Guelph Police received three reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Cardiff Way and two on Fairmeadow Drive.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible. Road safety enforcement on May 4

In the area of Victoria Road North at Delta Street from 6:45 p.m. - 8:10 p.m. - 10 tickets issued.

At 11:03 p.m. Guelph Police stopped a motor vehicle after radar clocked it travelling at 125km/h in a 60 km/z on Edinburgh Road South.  

A 20-year-old male has been charged with speeding, stunt driving, fail to stop for police and drive motor vehicle in contravention of conditions under the Highway Traffic Act. His vehicle was also impounded for seven days.
