Youth assault charge, calls for service

The following is a news release issued by the Guelph Police Service:

On the afternoon of Nov. 21, there was an altercation between two teenage boys on a city bus that continued after they both got off. One of the boys produced a hammer and struck the other, causing a laceration to his head that required medical attention.

On the morning of Nov. 29, the 17-year-old attended the police station and surrendered himself. He was charged with assault with a weapon and later was released at a bail hearing to appear back before the court in December.  

Over the course of the day on Nov. 29, 2017 the Guelph Police Service responded to 176 calls for service.
