Man enters home
On Oct. 20, 2016 at 2:45 a.m., the Guelph Police went to the Cardigan Street area after a resident found a male in his home. The male quickly left the home but police located him a short distance away and he was arrested. A subsequent search discovered a switch blade type knife.
A 25-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with unlawfully in a dwelling, possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on Oct. 20, 2016.
Collision leads to drive over 80mg arrest
On Oct. 19, 2016 at 11:41 p.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a collision on Dovercliffe Road. Police spoke with the male driver of one of the involved vehicles and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested. Police later learned that a female passenger in the vehicle had sustained a broken arm in the crash.
James Bromley, 19 years of Puslinch has been charged with drive over 80 mg and drive over 80mg cause bodily harm. He will appear in court on Jan. 16, 2015.
Break and enter
On Oct. 19, 2016, the Guelph Police went to a Rickson Avenue residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the home sometime between Oct. 14 and 19. A basement window was broken to gain entry. No theft is reported.

Theft from cars
On Oct. 19, 2016 the Guelph Police received three reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Mercer Street, Marksam Road and Cardigan Street.
This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible. Vehicle flips onto roof on Scottsdale Drive
On Oct. 19, 2016 at 8:58 a.m., the Guelph Police went to Scottsdale Drive near Wilsonview Avenue for a reported collision. A vehicle driving on Scottsdale struck a parked construction trailer causing the vehicle to flip over onto its roof. No injuries were reported by the female driver. Scottsdale was closed until 10:26 a.m., while the collision was investigated and cleaned up.

The Guelph Police were involved in 218 incidents in this time frame. Incidents involve everything from traffic stops and accidental 911 calls to domestics and break and enters.

The Guelph Police have been participating in this nationwide program via messaging on social media and also through our officers reaching out to High School students about safe driving.
