Traffic complaint results in impaired driving arrest

TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH - On Nov. 20, 2020 at approximately 10:50 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver travelling southbound on Highway 6. It was reported that the vehicle struck the centre median, was swerving all over the road, varying speeds and almost caused a head-on collision.

Police located the vehicle on Highway 401 and conducted a traffic stop. Police spoke to the driver and determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and they were placed under arrest. The driver was transported to an OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Bishnu Subedi, 23 years old of Guelph, has been charged with impaired operation, impaired operation - 80 plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood), and dangerous driving contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Jan. 8, 2021.
