Guelph Police responded to 228 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Hit and run investigation
On Feb. 24, 2020 at 3:20 p.m., a vehicle struck a parking sign, knocking it over, on Macdonell Street in the City of Guelph. The vehicle then drove away without stopping.

The vehicle is described as a dirty black pickup truck.

Commercial break-in
Some time over the weekend of Feb. 22 and 23, 2020, a commercial office located near the intersection of Watson Parkway North and Starwood Drive in the City of Guelph was entered. Multiple items were taken including a computer tablet.

Male arrested for numerous charges
On Feb. 14, 2020, a bench warrant was issued for an adult male for failing to re-appear in court in regards to the following offences:
    •    Theft under $5,000
    •    Possession of stolen property under $5,000 x2
    •    Mischief under $5,000
    •    Robbery
    •    Break and enter with intent
    •    Fail to re-attend court

On Feb. 24, the Guelph Police Service was notified that the male had also failed to check in with the John Howard Society since Jan. 31, violating his release conditions.

On Feb. 24 at 1:46 p.m., police located the male in the downtown core of the City of Guelph and he was arrested.
A 36-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:

  • Fail to re-attend court
  • Fail to comply with judicial release

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing on Feb. 25.
