The following is a news release from Guelph Police:

How do you affect road safety?

Yesterday there was also another collision involving a cyclist (who sustained minor injuries) and a car at Norfolk and Gordon Street. Each day this space continues to report on incidents of excessive speeding, impaired driving and collisions between cars, bikes, motorcycles and pedestrians that can have some deadly consequences.

People are often quick to be critical of others but at the same time fail to make the connection between their own attitudes/habits and why roadway interactions are not positive. We all have a part to play, but we all need to recognize what that role is. If you do not make that connection, you will eventually adopt the same type of intolerant behaviors/driving habits that you so quickly criticize others with. Whether you are behind the wheel of a motor vehicle, riding a bike on a highway or crossing a road on foot, inattention and negative attitudes have the potential to result in collisions, injuries and death.

Let’s stop making assumptions about whose fault it is and take a minute to ask yourself what you can do to make our roadways a safer place for everyone.

Here are some safe driving tips, regardless of where you live.

Disturbance arrest

At approximately 1:25 a.m. this morning, police were called to the parking lot of a Woodlawn Road establishment when management there had difficulties with a male who was yelling and screaming. When he was approached to calm down and directed to leave the premise,  he refused. While police were on the way, the male purposely caused some minor damage to a pick-up truck in the lot there.

The male in question was still there and yelling at management when police arrived. He was arrested for causing a disturbance, mischief and failing to leave the premise. The 19-year-old from Fergus was held in custody to appear for a bail hearing in Guelph later today.
