In the early afternoon of May 29, three males confronted another male at the Bullfrog Mall and accused him of stealing property.

Assault charges laid

In the early afternoon of May 29, three males confronted another male at the Bullfrog Mall and accused him of stealing property. The confrontation escalated and the victim was struck repeatedly in the face by one of the males and later required medical attention for his injuries. Police were called and located the responsible male and arrested him for assault causing bodily harm.

Joseph Dury, an 18-year-old Guelph male, was later released to appear in court on July 18, 2017.

Bike theft

There was green mountain bike that was taken from behind a Stone Road restaurant at approximately 11:20 p.m. on May 29. Officers on patrol were speaking to male a short time later when it was learned that he was riding the bicycle that was just stolen. He was arrested and the bike returned back to its owner.

A 35-year-old Guelph man is charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property and breach of probation. He was held in custody to appear in bail court today.

Homeowner finds male in her car

A Willow Road home owner was alerted to something when the family dog began barking at approximately 1:30 a.m. this morning. The front door was found open and her purse was gone. Outside her vehicle was running. When she looked out, there was male with a slim build wearing a dark hoodie inside her car who immediately fled on foot through the yards when he was seen. Police cordoned off the area and K9 was used to search the area. The male was not located.

Theft from vehicle arrest

Just before 4 a.m. on May 29 police were in the area of Liverpool Street investigating a report of a suspicious person entering vehicles. Police located two females that were in possession of a purse that investigation revealed was taken from a vehicle in the area. The two females were arrested.

The two females aged 28 and 31 years of age, are both from Guelph and are charged with theft, possession of stolen property and breach of probation. They were held in custody and are to appear in bail court.

On May 29, 2017, the Guelph Police Service responded to 220 calls for service.
