Guelph Police responded to 221 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Attempted break and enter
Some time over the night of Nov. 10, 2019, a male wearing a hoodie attempted to gain entry to the enclosed front porch of a residence located on the west end the City of Guelph. The male was never able to gain entry and eventually left.

Police investigated 31 motor vehicle collision incidents
The Guelph Police Service investigated 31 motor vehicle collision incidents throughout the City of Guelph in the past 24 hours.

The Guelph Police Service would like to remind the public to please slow down and drive for the weather conditions in order to help ensure that everyone reaches their destination safely.

Male arrested for shoplifting groceries
On the afternoon of Nov. 11, 2019, a loss prevention officer at a grocery store located on the east end of the City of Guelph observed an adult shoplift $148.46 worth of merchandise. Police attended the scene and arrested the male.

A 40-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:

  • Theft under $5,000
  • Breach of probation x2

He will appear in court on Dec. 17, 2019.
