Two accused of driving more than 50 km/h over speed limit

Both locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h in a posted 80 zone

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On July 13, 2019 at approximately 12 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 between Guelph and Fergus. The officer observed a grey coupe travelling above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 135 km/h.

Mohamada Majed Mazyad, 32-years-old of Mississauga has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Sept. 18, 2019. The accused's driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On July 16, 2019 at approximately 6:15 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 between Fergus and Arthur. The officer observed a red pickup truck travelling above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h.

Christopher Leo Crausen, 52-years-old of Wellington North has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Oct. 2, 2019. The accused's driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
