Two arrested after stolen truck hits two police cruisers

On April 11, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Guelph Police patrol attempted to stop a stolen motor vehicle. The driver of the car failed to stop and in the area of Whitelaw Road and Fife Road struck two police cruisers before fleeing the area in the car. Police did not pursue the car due to public safety.

Investigation lead police to a location in Cambridge. Multiple Guelph Police units along with Waterloo Regional Police worked together, resulting in two males being arrested.

The motor vehicle which had been reported stolen out of Hamilton was recovered. It did sustain significant front-end damage.

One police cruiser sustained almost $4,000 in damage while the other received minor damage.

No injuries were reported.

Subsequent to arrest, continued investigation discovered that both men (allegedly) had earlier committed a break and enter at a Cassino Avenue home, stealing a laptop and television.

A 24-year-old Guelph man has been charged with dangerous operation, flight from police, fail to remain, three counts of possess stolen property, drive while prohibited, assault with a weapon and break and enter.

A 26-year-old Guelph man has been charged with occupant in a stolen motor vehicle, two counts of possess stolen property, breach probation and break and enter. He was also wanted on a warrant for fail to appear.

Involved in this investigation - Uniform, K9, B.E.A.T., H.E.A.T., TRU and Waterloo Regional Police.
