Two charged in boat theft investigation

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On June 10, 2017 at approximately 11:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of two stolen boats and engines from the Belwood Lake Conservation Area. The boats were stolen between June 9 and June 10 from a dock near the rental building of the Belwood Lake Conservation Area. Further investigation revealed a theft of gas over two nights as well.

Two suspects were identified through investigation and have since been arrested and charged in relation to these incidents.

Eighteen-year-old Aleksandra Hattle of Belwood has been charged with theft over $5,000 and theft under $5,000 (x2). He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court July 25, 2017 to answer to the charges.

Twenty-eight-year-old Adam Hermanus of Belwood has been charged with theft over $5,000, theft under $5,000 (x2) and fail to comply with probation order. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court Aug. 1, 2017 to answer to the charge.

One boat and engine were recovered through a search warrant while the second boat and engine are still outstanding.
