Two charged in relation to vehicle theft

Just after 9 a.m. on Oct. 18, the owner of a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck witnessed a male stealing his truck from an address in Waterloo and immediately reported the theft and a description of the male to Waterloo Regional Police.

Guelph Police received that information and approximately two hours later, the truck was located in a Woodlawn Road parking lot in Guelph and that same male who had taken the vehicle was arrested. The male was also found to be in possession substances believed to be cocaine and MDMA.

The 27-year-old Guelph man is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, breach of a prohibition order and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He was held in custody and will appear in bail court today.

At approximately 10:50 a.m. on Oct. 18, police approached a woman in a U-Haul truck at a Guelph area storage facility. Investigation revealed that truck had previously been reported stolen by the company.

Pauline Kelly, a 51-year-old Guelph woman was arrested and charged with possession of property over $5,000. She was later released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
