Two charged with Wellington North assault with a weapon

Owner of the vehicle was allegedly assaulted with a weapon and left on the side of the road

TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Wellington County Detachment responded to a report of an assault that occurred on Concession 8 of Wellington North Township. 

It was reported that three occupants were travelling in a vehicle, when an altercation occurred which resulted in one of the individuals being assaulted with a weapon and left on the side of the road while the other two fled the scene in the victim's vehicle.

Officers located the vehicle in the ditch along with one of the suspects and they were placed under arrest. A second suspect was located as short distance away by the OPP Canine and placed under arrest.

The victim attended a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Bayley Lemkay, 36 years old of Cambridge, has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, theft over $5,000, fail to comply with undertaking and operation while prohibited X5 contrary to the Criminal Code.

Larry Ward, 44 years old of Brockton, has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon and theft over $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code.

Both accused were held for a bail hearing.
