Two drivers charged with racing

Both were found traveling more than 50 km over the posted speed limit

On Oct. 13, 2017 at approximately 3 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Woodlawn Road West near Elmira Road in the City of Guelph. The officer observed a female driving a 2012 BMW X12 at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 117 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

Thirty-three-year-old Zyrafete Ajvasi of Kitchener has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Dec. 6, 2017. Her driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.  

On Oct. 13, 2017 at approximately 6 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on County Road 27 north of Sideroad 10, Township of Guelph-Eramosa. The officer observed a male driving a 2006 Ford F150 at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 132 km/h in a 80 km/h zone.

Eighteen-year-old Dylan Wilson of Guelph-Eramosa has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Dec. 6, 2017. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute. He has also been charged with driving while under suspension and operate a motor vehicle without insurance.
