Two drivers face impaired driving charges

RIDE check results in charges as well as suspensions of licenses and impoundment of vehicles

On Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) Check on the Hanlon Expressway near College Avenue, Guelph. At approximately 1:30 a.m., the driver of a Mazda sedan entered the R.I.D.E. check.

The driver was stopped and while speaking with the male driver officers formed the opinion that he was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Twenty-seven-year-old Michael Miles Nuttall of Guelph has been charged with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood and impaired driving contrary to the Criminal Code. He was also charged for driving without a License contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.  

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to attend Guelph Court on Nov. 10, 2017.

While speaking with the female driver officers formed the opinion that she was under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside Screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. She was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Forty-six-year-old Irena Kathryn Boone of Guelph has been charged with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood and impaired operation of a motor vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day administrative driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. She is scheduled to attend Guelph Court on Nov. 10, 2017.

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, you can call police at 911 to report it.
