Two drivers face racing charges

Two vehicles were found traveling more than 50 km above posted limits

The racing charge against Kulbir Bal was reduced to a speeding ticket of travelling 79 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. He was not convicted of race a motor vehicle.

WELLINGTON - On Oct. 9, 2017 at approximately 10 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on County 7, near South Street, Township of Centre Wellington. The officer observed a male driving a 2007 Landrover at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit.

The vehicle was locked on radar at 103 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

Forty-four-year-old Kulbir Bal of Guelph has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Dec. 6, 2017. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

MAPLETON - On Oct. 10, 2017 at approximately 3:55 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on County 12, near Eighth Line Township of Mapleton. The officer observed a male driving 2018 Chevrolet Malibu at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit.

The vehicle was locked on radar at 137 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

Thirty-nine-year-old Marc Duggan of Schomberg has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Dec. 6, 2017. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
