Two face drunk driving charges in separate incidents

Police say both had twice legal limit of alcohol in their blood

On Oct. 19, 2019 at approximately 10:20 p.m., Guelph police received a driving complaint in the area of Paisley and Imperial. Police were able to locate the vehicle and stopped it on Imperial Road North. Police then spoke to the 52-year-old female driver from Guelph. As a result of this investigation, the female driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving and a Highway Traffic Act offence. The driver is alleged to have close to twice the legal limit of alcohol in her blood.

On Oct. 20, 2019 at approximately 1:45 a.m. while on routine patrol, a Guelph police officer observed a vehicle that is alleged to be travelling at a high rate of speed on Victoria Road. Police were able to catch up to the vehicle and stopped it on Victoria at Elizabeth.

Police spoke to the driver, who was subsequently asked to provide a sample of breath for analysis. The driver did so and, as a result of this analysis, the driver was arrested for impaired operation (BAC Over 80).

The 33-year-old Orangeville female was eventually released with a November court date. It is alleged that the driver had close to twice the legal limit of alcohol in her blood.
