Two face racing charges

Two drivers allegedly caught in excess of 130 km/h

On Aug. 4, 2019, at approximately 9 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police officer was monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Expressway in the City of Guelph. The officer observed a black Sports Utility Vehicle travelling above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h.

As a result, Nicholas Robert Watson, 24-years-old of Waterloo has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Oct. 2, 2019. The accused's driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

On Aug. 4, 2019, at approximately 10 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police officer was monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Expressway in the City of Guelph. The officer observed a turquoise sedan travelling above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 145 km/h.

As a result, Mohammed Ali, 45-years-old of Scarborough has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on October 2, 2019. The accused's driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
