Two face racing charges

Both vehicles were locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h in an 80 km/h zone

On Nov. 14, 2017 at approximately 8:45 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Laird Road in the City of Guelph. The officer observed a female driving a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 133 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

27-year-old Catherin Peckford of Whitby has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Dec. 20, 2017.Her driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.  

At approximately 9 p.m. at this same location an officer observed a male driving a 2004 Ford Escape that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 137 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

20-year-old Christopher Knox of London has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Dec. 20, 2017.His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
