Two impaired charges, including motorcyclist who fell off bike

Two Guelph men were charged with impaired driving on the weekend, including a motorcyclist who was observed falling off his bike, Guelph police report.

Saturday, approximately 12:40 p.m., a Guelph police service officer patrolling on Stone Road West clocked a Ram pickup at 81 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone. A traffic stop was conducted and officers immediately detected a strong odour of alcoholic beverage.

The driver failed a roadside breath test and was transported to the police station, where further testing confirmed he had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system. A 46-year-old man is charged with impaired driving and speeding.

Sunday afternoon, just after 3 p.m., a witness reported a motorcyclist fall off his bike on Paisley Road near the Hanlon Expressway, then get back on and continue. Officers located and stopped the bike and noted an odour of alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath.

The driver failed a roadside breath test and was transported to the police station, where further testing confirmed he had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system. A 28-year-old man is charged with impaired driving and driving while prohibited.
