Two vehicle collision results in impaired charges

On Sunday June 24, 2018 at approximately 12 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police received a report of a two-vehicle collision on the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph. It was reported that two sedans had collided and one person had suffered minor injuries.

Police attended and while speaking with the male driver of the one of the vehicles formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Detachment for testing.

25-year-old Heinrich Klassen of Elora has been charged with impaired driving and driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension and 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 17, 2018.
