Vehicle clocked exceeding speed limit, racing charge ensues

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH/ERAMOSA - On Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 124, Eramosa. 

The officer observed a male driving a grey coupe at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 145 km/h, exceeding the posted speed limit by at least 65 km/h.

19-year-old Tyler Carson of Guelph has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Oct. 17, 2018. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
