Vehicle clocked travelling more than 70 km/h over posted speed limit

On March 7, 2018 at approximately 3:15 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Marden Road, Township of Guelph-Eramosa. The officer observed a vehicle being operated at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 150 km/h, exceeding the posted speed limit by at least 70 km/h.

Twenty-year-old Cameron Austin Arnew of Fergus has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on May 2, 2018. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
